"Kelly session"
Lizard
Lizard Lyrics
Recently Jeff dug out a video of the band playing Lizard live and we wondered why we dropped it
from our sets.
It
is interesting how a lyric can be developed from mental dribble which then
seems to suggest a overall idea that then can be further tweaked into
something coherent.
They came from looking around the room and spotting an Escher print which depicted lizards crawling from a book.
It
could be passed off as an introspective relationship song. But then maybe that
was the muses intention.

Bomb
Bomb Lyrics
The nonsense lyrics used to structure the melody during the writing phase have been largely
kept but refined.
Jeff being absent, we used drum samples. Some
guitar over dubs and a bass line were added by David the next day.
Recorded direct to N Track studio. SM 58 for vox and acoustic guitars.
Bass direct via pre amp. Hammer head for drums.
Demo -"Felix sessions" Brutal Youth Brutal Youth Lyrics
A few sessions with a British girl named Felix produced a handful of songs.
These were recorded to a tascam 234 with heaps of vox sibilence and one sm58 on the drums. We had the music and Felix took a tape away and returned next session with words and melody.
I have tried to polish it up a little with N Track. It was supposed to be a more uncluttered approach but we couldn't help lapsing into odd time in the mid 8.
I particularly enjoy listening to Jeff's drumming through the odd time section.Straightening out the drums from odd into even while the riff stays odd was an approach I think Bruford used on Lament and possibly Lark's Tongues 3. We use the same sort of trick here and on Dead Cat.
